Trump says auto tariff coming, teases reciprocal duty breaks

US President Donald Trump speaks during an executive order signing in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC, US, on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025. The president on Thursday signed a measure directing the US Trade Representative and Commerce secretary to propose new levies on a country-by-country basis in an effort to rebalance trade relations.
President Trump said his tariff roll-out April 2 would focus on so-called reciprocal duties, featuring rates on a country-by-country basis corresponding to tariffs and other trade barriers on U.S. products. (BLOOMBERG)
